Disposable batteries typically need to be replaced frequently and expensive, typically one could spend over $100 a year on batteries alone.  There are two types of rechargeable batteries which is silver-zinc and lithium-ion. The silver-zinc type of rechargeable battery has been made popular by the company ZPower. Typically, rechargeable hearing aids of both battery types take 3-4 hours for a full charge providing 24 hours usage per charge.
